How it Began

My father was an audiophile. He took his portable reel to reel tape recorders everywhere. He copied most of his 78 and LP albums onto open reel tape. He owned hundreds of commercially recorded tape albums.

When I helped my mom and dad downsize and move out of their house of many years, I acquired his collections of thousands of reel to reel tapes and I started digitizing them.

This site is a labor of love, dedicated to my father, Edward Russell Eckert (1926-2009)

Mark Eckert

My name is Mark Eckert.

I am a retired father of three kids and 5 grandkids (not including the two grand puppies).

I have a confession...

I am a digital hoarder.

I have every email and message I ever sent or received since the earliest days of Hotmail and Yahoo. I have copies of almost every one of the computers I have ever owned (and many that my wife and children have owned). I have recorded almost every financial transaction that I made since the 1980 entries I loaded into Parsons Money Counts. My media collection had more than 38,000 music tracks and 500,000 photos. And that's not all of it!

This website is one of my latest projects — a home for the digitized reel-to-reel tapes from the thousands in my collection. I am putting them online as a public archive for family, friends, and those interested in researching the churches that are included.

I have not yet found a local chapter of "Digital Hoarders Anonymous".
